BareMinerals Goodies!

Hey pretties!

So for a few weeks, I've been trying to get to a BareMinerals store to get my hands on the Prime Time Oil Control Foundation Primer, so that I could have my own and stop using my moms. My mom and I went to the outlets the other day, and we stopped in BareMinerals, and I finally got the primer! But, the primer was not the only thing I got from there because it came in a set full of goodies, and I wanted to show you guys what all I got! I truthfully only got the set because it was discounted at $19.95, and the regular sized bottle of the Prime Time is typically $24.95, and it's really not that much bigger than this bottle. I thought it was a steal to get more for less. Anyway, check out what all came in the set!

It even came with a mini makeup bag! Here's a picture of what it looked like when I bought it.
Like I said, it came with a lot of goodies in it.
It came with two makeup brushes, as you can see, the foundation primer, and three different mini concealer powders.
I actually gave the bigger makeup brush to my mom because all I really wanted out of the set was the foundation primer, and the concealer brush, which is the one on the right. My mom plans to use it for a contour brush. I like how the brush applies the concealer. The other brush I was using is by MAC, and I do like it, but I really really like this concealer brush also. Make sure to apply your concealer with a brush and not your fingers to avoid spreading dirt and bacteria.
The main reason for the set! I got this after using some of my mom's. This is to be applied before putting on your makeup because it will help you avoid getting that shiny look after a full day of wearing makeup. I don't really wear foundation, just concealer, and it helps me for that. Because I really only wear concealer on my forehead, and for me that is an area that is prone to getting that oil shine after a full day, so this really helps prevent it. I noticed the difference it made after the first time I tried it, and that's when I knew I had to get my own. Also what's great about it, is you don't need a lot at all. It's very lasting, and just a small dab needs to be applied for it to work. Apply it all over, or just the areas you want to target. However, applying it all over gives your skin a very even look.

These are concealer powders and all over face colors. The top picture and the bottom pictures are the concealer powders and the middle picture is the all over face color. I have never tried concealing powders, so when I do try, I will be sure to post about how it works. All in all, I really like what came in this set, and I really like the makeup bag. I definitely recommend the Prime Time primer. It works wonders!

Until next time,
Kandace!

New Nails: Through the Grapevine by Wet N Wild Megalast

Hi guys!

I'm back with the nail post that I promised in my previous post! I'm a little late on it, but my summer class workload is getting heavier, I started work this week, and my internship writing duties are calling also so forgive me! I'm back though, with the post I promised. In my previous post, I was wearing a new nail color, but I didn't post about it. I'm still wearing the color now, and I was just touching it up because I love it so much! This color is called Through the Grapevine #208B by Wet N Wild's Megalast nail line. I don't really remember where I got this color, but it's still fairly new to my collection. It's a pretty plum color, and works great for the season. It glides on smoothly, and lasts long as well. I've had this color on for almost a week, and I think I touched it up once, so it's definitely good polish. I used the Sally Hansen Super Shine Top Coat on top of it. That's awesome top coat, by the way. That comes highly recommended by me. Anyway, this polish was no more than $3 which of course is awesome. Check out my pictures of the color on my hands below!

My Daily Makeup Routine Products!

Hey guys!

So I decided to do a post about products I use in my everyday makeup routine. People always tell me they don't know how I have time to do my makeup everyday, and truthfully, it takes me no more than 10 minutes, and on a bad day, 15. I guess because I've made it apart of my routine, I think nothing of it. With that being said, I'm going to show you the products I use everyday to get a simple natural look. I make my makeup look very simple and subtle. There are some of these products in this post that I don't use every single day, but most days, I use them. I'll be sure to note that when I show each item. So, let's jump into it!

I know this looks like a lot, but it's really not I promise. Each one of these products does not take long to apply at all. I have chap stick, and different lipglosses I choose from, concealer, bronzer, eyeliner, mascara, highlighter, and a eyebrow brush. (I forgot to show the eyeshadow palettes I use, but I figured that could be another post.)

I'll start with the lip products I use. So, I always start with chap stick, and this is the basic chap stick you can find anywhere, the kind that everyone has. I just ripped my wrapper off so you can't tell what brand it is, but it's the basic brand. I have Sephora lipgloss, which came in one of my many birthday presents that I get from Sephora. I have Wet N Wild Megaslicks, and I don't care what anyone says, I love this lipgloss. This color is Bronze Berry I believe, and it adds a tint and a shimmer to my lips. And lastly, I use this Ellen Tracy lipgloss which I found in Marshalls one day, and I love it because it's sheer and shiny, just how I like my lipgloss. As you can see I really like it because the cap is wearing down on me. I always have on lip gloss of some sort, if I don't have on lipstick. I chose not to show my lipstick because I don't wear it every single day, and I figured that I could do a separate post of my lipstick collection.

Next, I have concealer, which is by Mary Kay, shades Bronze 1, and Bronze 2. My skin complexion is closer to Bronze 2, but until I get that teeny tiny kiss from the sun, I mix both shades together to get the perfect shade. Although I could go with just Bronze 2, I usually mix both if I have both shades at the time. Bronze 1 is way too light to wear by itself. Mary Kay is one of my favorite concealers to wear. It lasts long, and it's only $10. I'm also a big fan of MAC and Nars concealer. I use this under my eyes, and for small blemishes on my forehead. It conceals really really well. This product comes highly recommended from me. If you can, try to always apply concealer with a brush because using your fingers can spread germs and bacteria all over your face. Also, brushes apply it better.

This eyeliner is by Lancome, and even though I like it, my favorite eyeliner ever is by Maybelline, the one with the green cap that you don't have to sharpen. (I can't think of the proper name right now) This eyeliner gets the job done though, and truthfully when I ran out of Maybelline eye liner, I found this unused Lancome pencil in my house, so I figure I'll just use it until it runs out, then I'll go back to my favorite. I always have on eyeliner, even if I don't have on eyeshadow, which I usually do. Sorry this eyeliner looks so unattractive, I literally use it everyday, so it's a little worn. The only thing I don't like about this eyeliner is it does have a tendency to smudge, but other than that, I like it.

This mascara is also from Sephora, and I got it in my birthday present from there also. I actually really like it, but Maybelline makes my favorite mascara ever which is the Falsies one in the purple packaging. I ran out of that, and I've been using this since then. Though I really do like this one, when this runs out, which will most likely be soon, I will go back and get my Falsies by Maybelline. However this mascara really pulls my lashes out, and I would definitely get it again.

This bronzer is by Nicole Miller, and my mom recently gave it to me because she never used it. I really like it, and majority of the time I've had it, I've worn it since then. I like the shimmer it gives my skin, and since I don't really use blush, this is a good fit for me. I don't use this if I'm just running out somewhere, but if I'm hanging out for the day, or going to church or something, I'll wear this.

Lastly, I have this highlighter, which also came from Sephora, and yes, you guessed it, came in my birthday present. I really adore this stuff. I usually swipe it under my eyebrows, and if I'm not wearing bronzer, I'll swipe across my cheek for a subtle shimmer. I use this very often, and I love it, love it, love it. I've had it for a year, and I still have a ton left because you don't need much. Too much of this will give a very "fake" look which we don't want. Just a little swipe will do. I will definitely be getting another one of these whenever it runs out, which won't be anytime soon.

I know all of this stuff looks like a lot to do, but I promise it's not. It will give you a very pretty look in a short amount of time. Even if I have on nothing else, I always have something on my lips, eyeliner, and concealer. It's very rare you catch me without those three items. Like I said, I typically have on eyeshadow, but I didn't post about it in this post because I have enough to do a separate post, same goes for the lipstick. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this post!

Until next time!

Kandace

P.S. I know my nails are a different color from the color I last posted about, but stay tuned for a new nail post soon!

Wet N Wild Megalast Balm Stain #125 Red-dy Or Not

Hey guys!

The other day I grabbed yet another lip color, I know, I know, don't judge me! However, this isn't lipstick, it's technically lip stain, but it works pretty much the same as lipstick. This one is from Wet N Wild's Megalast line, and it's called Red-dy Or Not, and it's a very cherry red color. I actually really really like this. It doesn't surprise me because I really like Wet N Wild products anyway, but what I really like about it, is that it glides on very smoothly, and is not super hard to get off. It's also moisturizing, and does not dry out your lips with it is applied. It was $3 at Giant. I am currently on the hunt for some more red colors because I out of the only other two I have (not including this one), I really only use Ruby Woo by MAC. I am trying to give her (Ruby Woo) a break, but it is impossible to, even with my other reds. (It's just so perfect) However, when I do not want too fancy of a red lip color, this will be my go to because I actually really do like it. Check out my pictures and a swatch of it on my hand below!

For this second picture I had to step out into the hallway to get a good picture of the color without the cap on because the sun went down for a second, and I wasn't getting as good of lighting from standing by my window.

Until next time!

New Nails: Endless Blue by Sinful Colors

Hey ya'll!

So I'm already back with a nail post! I change my nails very frequently, and I just had to share about my current nails. Currently I'm rocking Endless Blue by Sinful Colors. I posted about this color on my Favorite Spring & Summer Nail Colors post, and I have turned to it once again. This is without a doubt one of my favorite colors to do my nails, and this color seems to last forever. I was introduced to it by one of my best friends, and after I tried hers, I immediately went and got my own bottle. Sinful Colors can be found at any drugstore for no more than $3 a bottle which is awesome. Check out my pictures of the color on my nails below!

Tips For Dressing In Season

Hey guys!

I have felt led to do a post about dressing in season. Reason being, it is June, and I have been seeing people in winter clothing, and I am baffled. We have waited so long for summer, and now that it's here, people are still dressing like it's February. Last week in the DC metro area, temperatures dropped a little, and one day temps dropped to the low 60s! Unusual, yes, uncommon for this area? Unfortunately not. I saw people wearing pea coats, Uggs, North Face jackets, you name it, just for that one day. Nothing aggravates me more than people who run to the sandals because of one warm day in December, and people who run to the puff jackets because of one chilly day in June. There is a way to layer or un-layer due to one unusual weather day, and I have created some tips for dressing in season, as well as some examples of what exactly I am talking about, so let's get into it!

1. Leave the white for the warmer seasons! (i.e. spring and summer) This is something that I see often, and should not see often. White is meant to be put away after Labor Day contrary to popular belief. Unless is it winter white, meaning cream and in a winter fabric like cashmere or heavy wool, put it away and save it for when it’s warm outside. Summer and spring will be back, promise.

2. If you are going to buy clothes for winter in the summer or vice versa, put it away until then. Yes, we all know that stores have awesome clearance sales on past season clothes, but just because you buy it then does not mean you wear it then. When you get it, no matter how cute it is, just put it away for when it is time to wear it. It will be that much more exciting.

3. Start separating your wardrobe by seasons. If you clump all of your clothes together, when an unusual weather day comes around, you will be tempted to put those out of season clothes right back on. When spring rolls around, bag up your winter clothes and put them away until it is time to pull them back out. That way you will not be tempted to wear something that does not correlate with that season.

4. Remember there is a time for everything. There are four seasons for a reason. With every season there is an outfit. There is plenty of time to wear your favorite sweater dress, and just as equal time to wear your favorite gladiator sandals. Would you wear gloves in July? No probably not, so why would you wear a pea coat in June? When an unusually warm day arrives in January, do not go running to your sandals and shorts. Why? Because most likely within the same week it will be back down to 40 something degrees, then you will look foolish, and get sick. Instead, take off some layers so you don’t soak yourself with sweat and enjoy the weather that way. There is plenty of time for you to wear every item in your closet, just wait for the right season.

Little things to consider:

  • Nude heels/flats/sandals are not for all year.  Much like white, nude color shoes are for spring and summer typically. Though most people don't abide by that, those are the seasons that nude accessories and shoes were typically designed for.
  • Flats are okay for year- round year, however, if worn in colder months, wear with pantyhose, tights, or knee highs.
  • No matter how warm the day is, leave the sandals for late spring and summer.
  • If a chilly day arrives in the summer, instead of pulling out pea coats and North Faces, instead wear a cardigan or a light jacket. That will be enough to keep you warm. Anything heavier will get you sick.

I hope this was somewhat helpful, and I hope you've gained some useful information to help with transitioning from season to season with ease!

Until next time,
Kandace
